even if your bone starts to tell you otherwise lol ..
Halloween goes way deeper then the beautiful costumes you may see in the streets:
- Celtic Origins – Samhain Festival: Halloween traces back to the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, marking the end of the harvest season and the beginning of winter. It was believed that the boundary between the world of the living and the dead blurred during this time.
- Christian Influence – All Saints’ Day: The Christian church adapted the pagan festival, creating All Saints’ Day (also known as All Hallows’ Day) on November 1st. The evening before became known as All Hallows’ Eve, eventually evolving into Halloween.
- Honoring the Dead: In many cultures, Halloween was a time to honor deceased ancestors. This tradition is still reflected in celebrations like Mexico’s Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead).
- Warding Off Evil Spirits: The practice of wearing costumes and masks originated from the belief that disguises would protect people from malevolent spirits that were thought to roam freely during this time.
- Divination and Fortune-Telling: Halloween was traditionally seen as a powerful time for divination rituals. Many customs, like bobbing for apples, began as ways to predict future spouses or fortunes.
Halloween: a time were dreams are re- visited and come alive –
The End!
Peace, Love and Blessings Lovelies Xoxo.
